Superbowl and stuff Jan. 18th, 2009 @ 11:07 pm
Yup, it's been a few hours and I still can't believe the Arizona Cardinals are in the Superbowl. They almost choked it away, but pulled through thanks to the fact that Larry Fitzgerald is the best WR in all of football right now. They should get mauled by the Steelers, but than I've thought that for three weeks straight now....

Marimite Season 4 is also starting off fast and fun as they seem to be leaping straight into Yumi searching for Souer. Which is probably for the best as the series has been at it's best when it has Yumi and Touko together.

Marie-sama Season 4 episode 1 Jan. 15th, 2009 @ 10:43 pm
Not to much to say beyond the opening was different, the ending is a huge tease to all doujin and fanfic authors. And the final half of the episode is pure Touko and Yumi bliss.

And it's been about a week since the game and I still can't believe the Cardinals are one game away from the Superbowl.

Slayers Revolution 1&2 Jul. 12th, 2008 @ 09:05 pm
It felt like the pulled this straight out of the 90's. Character designs from the original series, Megami music, and the same brand of humor. Granted there was a bunch of modern animation techniques, but thankfully they didn't go with any Moe character design updates and such.

If you like Slayers you'll love this. If you hate it, well you'll hate this. And sadly I still think they won't put Naga into the TV series

Latest Who and Macross Jun. 8th, 2008 @ 10:33 pm
Macross Frontier 10 was the most meta anime I've seen in awhile. Having them make a movie about the events of Macross Zero during the episode? And having those events directly affect the plot of Frontier? Kawamori you are a devious bastard.

And Dr. Who just pretty much dropped some big potential plot events for the future in it's episode. It may just be a tease, but damn if it wasn't a good tease.

Personally I don't think they'll make it to the Spring Convention season, let alone summer...
» OBJECTION!
Just finished Ace Attorney 2, and dear god Case 4 is made of all kinda of win. Now I can't wait for AA3 and the evil that is Chi-chan...And of course GS4/AA4 and the return of Ema
» Bleah..
The fridge in the apartment just went bye bye, thus I had to toss out my fresh jug of milk as well as Frozen burgers and other meats.

On the flip side, I'll be free for any Fishing Club or Horde event tomorrow. Just pick which one you want to do Lara...

http://www.gokigenyou.com/index.htm has confirmation of season 3 of Marimite, which is to be released as an OAV. 2006 can't come fast enough now...
» Busy Day and Half
Been pretty busy around the last day and half, but it's been the good kind of busy. On the WoW front, fishing club went back into the Deadmines and emerged with the head of Van Cleef again. The run was a lot smoother as we actually used some strategey to beat the mobs instead of relying on a pure zerg rush. The only wipe came when pulled Captain Greenskin, but that was saved by jumping to the Wheel.

We would of also came back with a Gnome Head, but we liked Alan's comb over so we decided to let him live for now. But that could change if we ever need fishing bait.

On the level 60 front, I was finally involved in an Hakkar kill today. A gimmicky fight, but fun none the less. He's like a free epic machine if you can get the Panther and Tiger priest down. And the loot he drops is better than most of the stuff I've seen in MC. With the caster quest stuff having the DPS damage pluses that the Arcanist and Magisters doesn't have I'd dare say it's better for me to do more ZG than Molten Core. But I think I need to take a bit of a WoW break to catch up on DVD watching, and to watch the new Harry Potter Film

Picked up Pete Townshend's 2 disc Gold best of yesterday as well, mainly to cover the songs that aren't on Empty Glass and All the Best Cowboys have Chinese Eyes. It's a poorly laid out disc that has the songs thrown out in a Random order (Neither by date or release, like the Beatles 1 or David Bowie's 2 Disc Best off, or by theme like Echoes). Yet that alone can't hold back that most of the songs on the disc are top notch. Pete's solo career gets over looked a lot by the mainstream, especially compared to his work for the Who. But that's a shame as his solo work covers a whole new level of depth that his Who work doesn't cover. He may be an egotistical bastard at times, but he's honest about it and isn't afraid to deal with them like other artists.

And to top it off I went and played a bit of blackjack at the local casino for a bit. Started out with $20 and walked away with $32.50, which isn't bad but I was doing nothing but $5 minimum bets which was kinda of cheating. And I probably would of done wore if I didn't have some help from the lady beside me on a hand or two. Which is to always hold if you have over 11 when the dealer has a low card. Chances are they'll go bankrupt by drawing a bunch of cards, and it held true about 60% of the time.

Oh, and Genshiken 3 is as good as the earlier 2 manga volumes. Though I'm awaiting Volume and 5 for the new Female member....

Marimite is getting a third season, though so far it only seems to be an OAV. But chances are that means more hot Drill/Yumi action!
» Random thoughts
For a lark I decided to read through my old Ranma Mailing list posts, just to see what I was like on the Internet way back when. I'm not to sure if this is a good idea, but it does need to be done. Just as long as I don't read any of my old fanfics, because those would easily rot my brain with it's horribleness (Not that my new stuff was any better..There's a reason I don't write any more).

On the WoW front we plowed through Deadmines with Fishing Club, and I won a nice blue staff that'll last me till Scarlet Monastery. And on the Horde side we went and swept through Lower Blackrock spire with few problems (This being my first 5 man run of the instance...And with no Hunter Bridge wipe either). And today my 60 Human mage got smashed by Ragnaros quite good.

And I really need to watch my DVD's, as they're starting to pile up. And more of the new series (Yes, I've fallen into Mai Otome's trap...)
» Turbografix 16-PC Engine memories
Got the Y's 1 and 2 soundtrack yesterday (The Redbook audio rip from the game) and it's already making me want to get a Duo and beat the game again. What a great soundtrack to what was probably the first truly great CD-Rom game. And the dub was decent for a game made in 91-92, not unlike other Duo CD games (Or most PSX/PS2 Dubs these days).

Also picked up Civilization 4 for a hot seat game for me and my friends, which thankfully includes a hot seat mode. It shouldn't see alot of play time, but it'll be good when people come over (Instead of me playing WoW in front of them, not that I'd do that...*whistles innocently*
» Looking through old Roleplaying logs..
And dear god we were quite F'ed up in our BESM games. And the bad part is this isn't even halfway close to what we did in Mechaclash...

Oh, and someone tell me how my fantasy hockey team has only managed to score 32 total goals in the new NHL? Oh well, at least my goalies are doing quite well.
» Well, since scorpio_grudge has been mentioning me in her last few journal posts...
I figured I might as well update, because people might actually come and take a look at my journal. Or maybe not, but it's at least good to have something from this year. I blame WoW and it's evil grip for stalling this journal and my Anime blog (At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it). But that should change...Hopefully...Maybe...

Unless I decide to start the fishing club website.

Anyway, I'm actually keeping track of a few new shows this season. Mai Otome and Nanoha A's being the two big ones, one being an Alternate Universe and the other a sequel. Nanoha A's is as good as I expected, though the slow paced subs have me a bit annoyed. Mai Otome is good too, as it seems Sunrise listened to a bunch of a fan feedback while making the show. I swear every fan-art and doujin idea was used in revamping the characters in this series, and I must say it works for me. Now if they can actually produce a decent ending and not the cop-out happy ending they had for Mai-HiME than I'll really be happy.

Blood+ is enjoyable, which is shocking as I hated the OAV. But I think that's because the show actually has a real plot this time and character development, and not just some lose threads stringing together some bleah action scenes. The first episode of Jigoku Shoujo was good, but sadly the series doesn't seem to have an overall plot, and instead seems to be more of an episodic series And while the first episode was good, thirteen episodes of straight Revenge tales doesn't strike me as something I want to watch. Even if it does have Noto Mamiko in it...

And Ginban Kaleidoscope has a Canadian in it, though that's about all it has going for it. He doesn't even club any baby seals or quote Don Cherry, so it's not like he's a real Canadian anyhow.
» Blue moon = memeage
Because this actually takes a bit of thought and just might be entertaining. (Stolen from [info]autumnflame.)

1. Comment to this entry with a post you think would be totally out of character for me - something I'd never talk about, never discuss, never say, anything. It has to be completely out of character.

2. Post this in your own journal.
» Well, it's been a while...
Sorry about leaving this LJ in a state of disrepair, but I've been more focused on my Miwa Blog than this
journal. I'll try and keep it more up to date, but till the NFL (and hopefully) NHL keep going I'll probably keep this on the ignore...

Anyway, what better way to fill in a post than with a LJ quiz!

» Change of Direction and Anime Thoughts
I know, I know...I let this journal sit and rot for a bit too long. But a new anime season is upon us, and I figured I'd change the direction of the journal by turning more into an anime blog (since that's what I most have to talk about...Besides Hockey).

So lets start off with...

Koikaze 1

Slow paced romantic drama about a high school girl and an older man (Not that old in his mid twenties). They go on a date and hit it off pretty well, when at the end it's revealed there brother and sister. So now we have 2 forbidden romances wrapped up in one anime! It's an interesting enough twist, and it's paced well enough that it held my attention (and I will be watching more). But...I wonder if Geneon USA knows what it's getting into when it co-produced this. It might be a hard sell to the general North American Anime fan.

Bakuretsu Tenshi 1

Girls, guns, and the typical Gonzo 2-D and 3-D animation. Mix it in with the lone guy caught in the chaos and you have a pretty paint by numbers anime from the look of things. I think I like Daphne in the Brilliant Blue more than this, but it's enjoyable enough and the characters seem interesting. I'll keep watching, that's for sure.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Live Action 26

They're making Luna a Senshi in the next episode...I quake in fear...
» Dear God...
The NFL gave into Terrel Owens whining and let him be traded to Philly. I;m quite shocked, and wondering what this will mean for other prima donna superstars. Looks like the looneys are running the league now..
» Bertuzzi Suspension....
Is about what I suspected it to be.. It screws the Canucks over big time, and ruins their run at the cup, but it's fair given the nature of the hit. And hopefully he'll learn something from this and stop the stupid immature play that gets him into trouble...

As for Brian Burke, and his assault on the Media...Well, it's typical Burke whining but this time it's grown very tired. Even Die Hard Canucks fans know the suspension is justified, to whine about it just makes you look like a kid. And perhaps it is for the best if the Canucks send you walking out the door this year...
